quality: some flaws from vhs source in first few minutes but picture becomes fairly stable thereafter. Colour is quite strong but the whole thing has a slightly washed out look. The audio levels are a bit low throughout. Notes from 'Earthly recordings of Sun Ra' by R.L. Campbell & C. Trent...
The Arkestra toured the Soviet Union for three to five days. Sun Ra was interviewed by Hans Kumpf in Moscow on May 31, just prior to concert there at the "First" Moscow International Jazz Festival.
Sun Ra and the Arkestra also gave concert for the opening of a MacDonald's (in Moscow, presumably). Video footage of Sun Ra Waiting in a two-block-long line outside MacDonalds and being interviewed at the foot of the Gagarin Monument is reportedly extant.
now that I'd love too see...anyone got it ?
